At Apleona, We are always on the lookout for talented and dynamic individuals to join us. We currently have an opening as a cook at our location in Dublin 4.

Shift Pattern: Saturday & Sunday 08:00 - 13:00.

Main duties and responsibilities
  • Cultivating a team culture focused on exceptional service, every time, for everyone.
  • Upholding consistent standards in presentation and products, regularly assessing opportunities for improvement based on feedback from client and staff.
  • Ensuring the entire team adheres to relevant legislation, company policies, and professional standards (COSHH, EHO, Food Hygiene) to minimize risks for customers and staff.
  • Following standardised recipes and portion control to maintain consistency.
  • Liaise with Nursing Staff to ensure that residents' dietary needs are being always met. Meet with Resident's to discuss dietary needs.
  • In conjunction with Head Chef & Household Manager be responsible for ordering supplies.
  • Ensure that all appropriate records are in place in accordance with Environmental Health, Regulation and Quality Improvement Authority Guidelines and H.A.C.C.P. regulations.
  • Monitoring and optimising resources, maximising profitability, and minimising waste through strategic procurement and costed menus.
  • Assisting in managing staff schedules and payroll costs.
  • Identifying and managing food allergens, ensuring residents with allergies are provided with safe and suitable meal options.
  • Coordinating with other staff members, including dietary aides and support staff, to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
  • Communicating effectively with residents and address any concerns or preferences related to meals.
  • Displaying flexibility to accommodate special events, holidays, and requests for specific dishes.
  • Sharing menu details with clients, highlighting that the ingredients are high quality and ethically sourced, and communicating allergen information based on our recipes.
  • Supervising the correct handling of both raw and cooked food.
  • Ensuring the catering area is consistently clean and well organised to the highest standards.
  • Maintaining accurate records in line with policies and legal requirements.
  • Monitoring and maintaining kitchen equipment, ensuring its proper functioning and reporting any issues.
  • Contributing to creating a positive work environment for the team.
  • Always be helpful and polite to residents and visitors.
  • Report all complaints to the Head Chef & Household Manager and assist with investigations when required.
Qualifications and experience
  • Previous experience within a working kitchen.
  • Knowledge of kitchen Health & Safety procedures and all legislative requirements.
  • H.A.C.C.P. Minimum level 2- and 1-Year Culinary Experience.
  • Recognised professional culinary qualification.
  • Ability to make on the spot decisions.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Must possess organisational skills.
  • Must be self motivated and able to motivate others.
