Job Description 2 Days Cover For A Local Authority Organisation

Job Purpose

To prepare, cook, and serve high-quality food in a safe, hygienic, and efficient manner, supporting the daily operations of the YPO supply shop café/food service area.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook a variety of hot and cold food items in line with menu specifications
• Ensure all food is presented to a high standard of quality and consistency
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen and food preparation areas
• Follow all food hygiene, health, and safety regulations at all times
• Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering and stock rotation (FIFO)
• Receive and store deliveries appropriately
• Minimise food waste and control portion sizes
• Work collaboratively with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations
• Support menu planning and suggest improvements where appropriate
• Ensure all equipment is used safely and maintained properly

Requirements

• Previous experience as a cook, chef, or kitchen assistant
• Knowledge of food hygiene standards (Level 2 Food Safety preferred)
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Good organisational and time management skills
