Conveyancing Assistant

Location:Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne

Job type: Full-time, permanent

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

SJC Partners is recruiting on behalf of an established law firm in Newcastle seeking a Conveyancing Assistant to join its busy residential property team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with conveyancing experience who is organised, client-focused and keen to develop their career within a supportive legal environment.

Working closely with conveyancers and other members of the property team, you will provide administrative and legal support across a varied caseload of residential conveyancing transactions.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting conveyancers with sales, purchases, remortgages and transfers of equity
  • Opening new files and completing initial compliance checks
  • Requesting searches and relevant property documentation
  • Preparing correspondence and standard legal documents
  • Liaising with clients, estate agents, lenders and other solicitors
  • Providing clients with regular updates on the progress of their transactions
  • Managing incoming telephone calls and emails
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date files
  • Using the firm's case management system
  • Assisting with exchange, completion and post-completion tasks
  • Providing general administrative support to the conveyancing team

About you:

  • Previous experience in a conveyancing or legal assistant role
  • An understanding of the residential conveyancing process
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • A professional and confident telephone manner
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
  • A proactive and flexible approach to work
  • Strong IT skills and confidence using case management systems
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
