Conveyancer / MLRO (Dual Role) - Wirral

Overview

An established and growing legal practice on the Wirral is seeking an experienced Conveyancer / Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) to join its team. This is a key dual-role position combining fee earning residential conveyancing work with responsibility for overseeing and maintaining the firm's anti money laundering (AML) compliance framework.

Key Responsibilities Conveyancing Duties
  • Manage a full caseload of residential conveyancing matters from instruction through to completion
  • Handle sales, purchases, remortgages, transfers of equity, and leasehold transactions
  • Provide clear, practical advice to clients and maintain strong client relationships
  • Liaise with agents, lenders, and other solicitors to ensure smooth progression of transactions
  • Ensure files are managed efficiently and in line with regulatory and internal standards
MLRO Duties
  • Act as the firm's appointed MLRO and oversee AML compliance
  • Develop, implement, and maintain AML policies, controls, and procedures
  • Review and assess suspicious activity reports (SARs) and determine appropriate action
  • Ensure compliance with current AML legislation and regulatory requirements
  • Deliver internal training and guidance on AML and compliance matters
  • Conduct file audits and risk assessments
  • Act as a point of contact for regulatory bodies where required
Requirements
  • Qualified Solicitor, Licensed Conveyancer, or experienced non qualified conveyancer with a strong track record
  • Proven experience managing a residential conveyancing caseload independently
  • Solid understanding of AML regulations and compliance obligations
  • Previous MLRO or compliance experience preferred (or readiness to step into the role)
  • Strong attention to detail and risk awareness
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
