Job Description

Contract Patching Engineer

Location: South of Hampshire
Working pattern: Hybrid
Contract Length: Initial 3 months
Day Rate: Up to £300 per day

Overview

Our client requires two contractors to support a large backlog of system and security patching. An advisory service is already in place to identify required patches, but dedicated resources are needed to apply and manage them across the environment.

Key Responsibilities

Apply operating system and application patches across Servers, endpoints, and infrastructure.
Reduce a significant backlog of outstanding patches and bring systems to a secure, compliant state.
Coordinate patching schedules with internal technical teams.
Test, validate, and document all patch deployments.
Investigate and resolve patching failures.
Maintain accurate tracking and reporting of patch status and progress.

Required Skills & Experience

Strong background in patch management within Windows and/or Linux environments.
Knowledge of vulnerability management and security best practices.
Experience with patching and configuration tools (eg, SCCM/MECM, WSUS, Intune, Ansible, or similar).
Ability to troubleshoot patch-related issues.
Experience working in hybrid enterprise environments.
Clear, structured communication skills.

Desirable

Experience in regulated or high-compliance sectors.
