Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust

Continuity Midwife (Band 6)

The closing date is 26 April 2026

Is making a difference what drives you most? Are you caring and fair, treating everyone individually? Is doing the right thing important to you? Are you reliable, hardworking, and committed to excellence?

If this sounds like you, and you value the responsibility and accountability of being a midwife, we'd love to hear from you.

We are seeking an enthusiastic Continuity of Carer Midwife to join our supportive maternity team. You will provide personalised, relationship based care to women, birthing people, and families throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postnatal period.

This advert is specifically for Band 6 Midwives who are post preceptorship and have clinical experience.

Please note this is a fixed term 12 month opportunity.

Band 6 Midwives: You'll work flexibly and autonomously across antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal settings (inpatient/community) with a defined caseload, ensuring seamless continuity for those in your care. You'll role model best practice, support junior staff and promote high standards across our service.

You will join a small integrated approachable team that values personalised care, teamwork and growth. Our commitment was reflected in our recent CQC inspection, where maternity services were rated Good.

Assessment Centre Dates: 11.05.26 and 15.05.26 (2nd date if a large number shortlistable)

Main duties of the job

As a dedicated midwife, your main duties will revolve around providing safe, clinically effective and individualised care to women and birthing people throughout their pregnancy journey.

This role offers the opportunity to build meaningful relationships, support positive birth experiences, and make a genuine impact on the health and wellbeing of our community. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will deliver safe, high quality, and compassionate care.

We are committed to the national maternity agenda and also have an impressive home birth record.

You'll work flexibly across antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal settings (inpatient/community) with a defined caseload, ensuring seamless continuity for those in your care. Excellent communication, clinical confidence, and a passion for promoting choice are essential.

In return, we offer a nurturing environment, professional development opportunities, and the chance to be part of a team that truly values your skills and commitment to exceptional maternity care.

When working in one of our established teams, you will have time to complete antenatal and postnatal visits for the caseload under your care, and other times where you will be available to care for women in labour (hospital, birth centre and home). You and your team write your own rota, decide on annual leave and support each other in weekly team meetings. This allows you to gain transferrable skills such as time management, managing your own caseload and team working.
