Content Designer | GDS | Manchester| Inside
SR2 is recruiting a Content Designer to join a central government digital programme via a consultancy partner, supporting critical public services with user-centred content design.
Role Details:
You will shape and deliver accessible, impactful content across end-to-end user journeys, working closely with user researchers, analysts, and stakeholders to test and iterate content that meets GDS standards and prioritises user needs.
Key Responsibilities:

SR2 is recruiting a Content Designer to join a central government digital programme via a consultancy partner, supporting critical public services with user-centred content design.
Role Details:
- Rate: £425/day (Inside IR35)
- Length: 3 months initially, with a high likelihood of extension (potential until late 2026)
- Start: ASAP
- Location: UK-based, hybrid with 2 days per week in Manchester
You will shape and deliver accessible, impactful content across end-to-end user journeys, working closely with user researchers, analysts, and stakeholders to test and iterate content that meets GDS standards and prioritises user needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, test, and iterate content using prototypes (from sketches to coded prototypes)
- Establish and maintain content patterns aligned with GDS standards
- Collaborate with researchers and analysts to ensure content meets user needs
- Influence and manage stakeholder relationships effectively
- Lead and deliver content improvement strategies across services
- Champion accessibility and quality in content delivery
- Guide and coach junior content designers, reviewing and assuring quality of work
- Proven GDS and government content design experience
- Strong understanding of user-centred design and accessibility principles
- Experience influencing and negotiating with stakeholders across programmes
- Ability to lead content strategy, continuous improvement, and quality assurance
- Experience working within agile, multidisciplinary teams
