Job Description

HKA is one of the world's leading consultancies for multi-disciplinary expert and specialist services in dispute resolution, particularly within the capital projects and infrastructure sector.

We advise clients on the economic and financial impacts of commercial and investment treaty disputes and forensic accounting matters.

Our Forensic Accounting & Commercial Damages (FACD) practice has grown significantly, and we aim to expand this success within our EMEA region, with roles available in our London office.

As part of the HKA team, you can expect:

  • A collaborative culture focused on growing the FACD practice globally and fostering team development. We work closely with colleagues worldwide.
  • The chance to work on some of the world's largest and most complex commercial and investment treaty arbitrations.
  • Challenging valuation and damages assessment projects from around the globe.

The Opportunity:

Would you consider relocating to Sydney? Our forensic accounting team is recruiting experienced candidates for our Sydney office, offering a full relocation package and visa support.

Are you a qualified accountant (e.g., ACA, CNCC, ACCA), CFA, or economist with at least four years of experience in dispute support, forensic accounting, or valuation? An audit or transaction services background is a plus.

If you're looking to specialize further, acquire new skills, and take on rewarding challenges-using your ability to interpret accounts, value businesses, and analyze economic impacts-this could be a new chapter in your career.

You will be responsible for:

  • Performing financial, accounting, and economic analyses, and guiding junior staff in their analyses.
  • Conducting business valuations, utilizing relevant software tools for research and data analysis.
  • Communicating results and explaining work products to partners and clients.
  • Drafting sections of expert reports.
  • Managing client interactions.
  • Engaging in business development and networking activities.
  • Training and mentoring colleagues.

Requirements:

Ideally, you will have:

  • Graduate or postgraduate degrees in accounting, finance, economics, or business/management.
  • Qualified accountant, valuation expert, or postgraduate economist with expertise in forensic accounting or contentious valuations, and a proven dispute resolution record.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and commitment to high-quality analysis.
  • A strategic mindset and comfort working through ambiguity.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Team-oriented attitude.
