We have an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our mental health team at HMP Stocken. HMP Stocken is a category C training prison housing around 1,056 patients, the majority aged between years. You will work closely with the multidisciplinary team to deliver support to adult males with complex mental health and trauma needs.
Hours20 hours per week across 2.5 days. We can create a rolling rota: 2 days one week, 3 days the next, with flexibility Monday Friday. Full time sessions are also available at HMP Gartree or HMP Five Wells.
SalaryAnnual salary up to £186,480 per annum FTE, depending on experience.
How will we support you?- You will be part of a team of 20+ experienced and supportive Consultant psychiatrists.
- You will attend monthly Consultant meetings and 1:1 clinical supervision.
- You will receive a bespoke induction, including our Introducing Health in Justice training course.
- You will have access to a competency framework.
- Provide excellent clinical care, assessment, and treatment to patients on the caseload onsite.
- Actively participate in the strategic direction of the mental health service, lead senior mental health clinicians on service developments, and provide clinical supervision.
- Work within the multidisciplinary team to review referrals, determine appropriate treatment plans, conduct risk assessments, and engage in multidisciplinary complex case reviews.

Qualifications required- Registered professional with current registration (GMC).
- Specialist Registration in either General Adult or Forensic Psychiatry.
- Approved under section 12(2) of the MHS 1983.
- Understanding of the complexities of multidisciplinary and agency working.
- Up to date knowledge in adult psychiatry and personality disorders.
- Awareness of current issues in mental health service provision, policy, and legislation.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
