Job Description

Practice Plus Group is pleased to announce that they have recently taken over the healthcare contract at HMP Wymott, a Category C prison in Lancashire.

We now have an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Mental Health team. The prison houses around 1100 men with a variety of health needs.

Hours

This position involves working 22.5 hours per week.

Salary

You will receive an annual salary of between £170,000 and £180,000 FTE, depending on experience.

How will we support you?

  • You will be part of a team of 15+ experienced and supportive Consultant psychiatrists.
  • You will have the opportunity to attend monthly Consultant meetings and 1:1 clinical supervision.
  • We offer bespoke induction, including our 'Introducing Health in Justice' training course.
  • We provide a competency framework to support your development.

Candidates are required to have a legal right to work in the UK. Due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.

Main duties of the job

As a Consultant Psychiatrist, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing excellent clinical care, assessment, and treatment to patients on the caseload onsite.
  • Participating in the strategic direction of the mental health service, leading senior clinicians on service development, and providing clinical supervision.
  • Working within a multidisciplinary team to review referrals, determine appropriate treatment plans, conduct risk assessments, and engage in complex case reviews.

Qualifications required

  • Registered professional with current GMC registration.
  • Specialist Registration in General Adult or Forensic Psychiatry.
  • Approved under section 12(2) of the MHS 1983.
  • Understanding of multidisciplinary and multi-agency working.
  • Up-to-date knowledge in adult psychiatry and personality disorders.
  • Awareness of current issues in mental health service provision, policy, and legislation.
