Consultant in Acute Medicine - University Hospital Wishaw. We are looking to welcome a new Consultant colleague to join a dedicated and forward-thinking Acute Medicine team within NHS Lanarkshire. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a dynamic and supportive department focused on delivering safe, effective, and compassionate care for patients with acute medical presentations.
About the Trust and DepartmentUniversity Hospital Wishaw is a busy district general hospital and part of the Lanarkshire Acute Division, providing a wide range of inpatient and specialist services. The Acute Medicine unit manages a high turnover of both planned and unscheduled admissions, supported by a multidisciplinary team including specialty and core trainees, advanced nurse practitioners, and physiotherapists.
Working pattern and SPAWe offer a flexible, sustainable working pattern with annualised sessions and strong support for SPA activity in education, quality improvement, and research. The post is full-time (10 PAs) but applicants seeking less than full-time will be considered. Proposals for additional SPA time from applicants are encouraged. In addition to the 1 PA for Non-DCC/SPA activities, the Board is supportive of applications for additional SPA time from individuals with well-developed ideas for improving services who are able to demonstrate a commitment to quality improvement, patient safety (including human factors training), Medical Education, Research & Development, acting as an Appraiser, etc. Applicants who are able to demonstrate a commitment to any of the above or other areas and wishing to commence on more than 1 PA for SPA duties should discuss proposals with the identified Recruitment Lead and/or Service Manager (provide contacts) who will consider the request in line with the successful candidate's professional and service requirements.

QualificationsApplicants should hold full GMC registration with a licence to practise and be on, or within six months of, the Specialist Register for Acute or General (Internal) Medicine.
