We are looking to appoint a Consultant in Acute Emergency Medicine to join our team at Broomfield on a full time permanent basis.
The successful applicant will be expected to provide consultant advice and treatment to patients with emergency problems attending the Emergency Department. The post holders will share responsibility for the delivery of emergency medicine services with the other Emergency Medicine Consultants.
Our hospital has an outstanding nursery. We are spoilt for choice with excellent schools, housing and transport links. Central London is a 25 minute train ride, Stansted airport 30 minutes away, and the beach 20 miles away.

Main duties of the jobIt is expected that the post holder will actively contribute to the Trust's Acute Medicine services and support true multi disciplinary working way in line with the Royal College of Physicians and the Department of Health's strategy for modernising acute care within the NHS. Individual consultants are also trainees' managers and are encouraged to liaise with their managerial and clinical colleagues to resolve operational issues.
You will either be an established Acute Medical Consultant looking for new challenges or a Specialist Trainee approaching CCT who is looking for your first consultant post. You will have full GMC registration or evidence of eligibility for full GMC registration, with appropriate/fellowship training in Emergency/Acute Medicine.

Person Specification Teaching Experience- Knowledge and experience of supervising undergraduates, junior doctors and other staff
- Ability to teach clinical skills
- Knowledge of the principles of research/audit and ability to interpret and apply clinical research
- Ability to apply research outcomes to clinical and surgical problems
- Recent published clinical research in peer reviewed journal
- Ability to supervise postgraduate research
- MBBS or Equivalent
- Full GMC Registration with entry on Specialist Register; eligible for entry on Register or within six months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of training (CCT) at time of interview
- Evidence of completion of specialist training or equivalent
- Ability to supervise post graduate research
- NHS Experience
- Evidence of thorough and broad training and experience in the specialty
- Comprehensive knowledge in the specialty and ability to offer expert clinical opinion on range of problems
- Demonstrates good knowledge of the structures and culture of the NHS, roles, responsibilities and relationships across the MDT and the multi professional team
- Able to take full and independent responsibility for delivering service without direct supervision
