SummaryThis is a substantive post to primarily support the expansion of the structural and coronary interventions at Trent Cardiac Centre (TCC). The post holder will be a key part of the Cardiology Department at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH), focusing on expanding the TAVI and structural service and contributing to the coronary service and general cardiology. There is also an expectation that the successful candidate will contribute to General Medicine flow with 0.5 programmed activity per week on average.
Main duties of the jobThe post holder will participate fully in the department's activities, including inpatient and outpatient work. A full range of cardiology emergency and elective patients are admitted to Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust and the appointee will be responsible for the management of those patients admitted under his/her care irrespective of sub-speciality.
Work with consultant colleagues to provide a comprehensive elective and emergency Cardiology service including reciprocal cover for periods of leave. Appointee will have continuing responsibility for the care of patients in his/her charge.
This appointment has a Structural/PCI sub-speciality focus and will contribute to elective and non-elective structural and coronary intervention procedures. The appointee will help maintain the volume of in-patient flow with Acute Coronary Syndromes (ACS) with a view to patients achieving access to angiography and PCI within 72 hours of admission.
The post holder will be expected to contribute to combined cardiac and cardiac surgical MDT case meetings at City Hospital. There will be an agreed and equitable share of facilities and support (including junior and middle grade medical staff) with the other consultants in cardiology.

QMC is our emergency care site, where our Emergency Department, Major Trauma Centre and the Nottingham Children's Hospital are located.
Nottingham City Hospital is where we largely care for patients with long-term conditions and run our elective services. This includes our centres for cancer, haematology, heart disease, urology and respiratory medicine.
In Ropewalk House we provide a range of outpatient services, including hearing services.
We have maternity and neonatal units at QMC and City Hospital.
Job responsibilitiesResponsibilities include participation in the full range of departmental duties as described in the job description and collaboration with colleagues to deliver high-quality cardiology services.
Person Specification Registration- Full GMC registration. Eligible to be included on the Cardiology Specialist Register via one of: a) Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Cardiology; b) CCT expected within 6 months of interview date; c) Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR); d) European Community Rights
- CCT in General Internal Medicine
- MRCP (or equivalent)
- MD / PhD (or equivalent)
- Wide experience in cardiovascular medicine
- Expertise in TAVI with UK or International based Fellowship
- Expertise in complex Coronary Interventions
- Complex Coronary Interventions (CTO & CHIP)
- Experience in other structural interventions
