Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Integrated Breast Services at the University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust for a Breast Consultant Radiologist. The duties of this role will be based at the Park Centre for Breast Care.

The role will be a full time 10PA post with the opportunity to cover all aspects of the breast screening and breast imaging services. This includes breast screening reporting, screening assessment clinics, one stop 2WW rule clinics, ultrasound and interventional lists and depending on experience MRI and cross-sectional reporting.

The successful candidate will join a busy Integrated Breast Service, providing breast screening to a population of over 125,000 women, receiving over 8,000 GP referrals and treating around 1000 new breast cancers.

Digital equipment including tomosynthesis and VAB/E are available at Brighton.

Main duties of the job

The clinical duties of the post will include the following:

  • Support breast screening reporting, screening assessment clinics and arbitration sessions
  • Support one stop symptomatic clinics
  • Support ultrasound and interventional procedures, including VAB/E and localisation procedures
  • Report breast MRIs / cross sectional imaging
  • Support interval cancer and previously assessed cancer reviews

No on-call commitments.

Person specification Experience / Qualifications
  • FRCR or its recognised equivalent
  • Full and specialist registration (with a licence to practise) with the GMC or be eligible for registration within six months of the interview. If you trained in the UK, you must also have a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Clinical Radiology or be within six months of receiving it by the interview date. If you trained outside the UK, you must provide evidence that your qualifications are equivalent to the UK CCT. (Equivalence must be confirmed by GMC by date of AAC)
  • Membership of other relevant subspecialty organisations
  • MD or equivalent Higher Degree or evidence of relevant research
Clinical Skills and Experience
  • Breast radiology including experience in breast screening
  • Wide experience in clinical radiology and cross sectional imaging
Organisation and Planning
  • Experience and ability to work in multi-professional teams
  • Understanding of: NHS / Clinical governance / Resource constraints
  • Evidence of managerial skills: Achievements / Course attended
Teaching Skill
  • Evidence of an interest and commitment to teaching
  • Recognised teaching qualification
