Senior Construction Associate
£60,000-£75,000 DOE Permanent
Construction roles offering quality work, leadership responsibility and room to influence a team do not appear in Essex every five minutes.
A respected regional practice is looking for a Senior Construction Associate to join its Legal 500-recognised construction team. The department advises on both contentious and non-contentious matters and has built a strong reputation across the South East.
What's in it for you?- £60,000-£75,000, depending on experience
- A senior position within an established construction practice
- Exposure to contentious and non-contentious work
- A choice of Chelmsford or Basildon office
- The opportunity to supervise and develop junior lawyers
- Direct involvement in business development and departmental growth
- A supportive management culture where ideas are encouraged
You will manage and develop your own caseload while playing a wider role in the performance of the team. Your responsibilities will include:
- Advising clients on construction contracts, disputes and related commercial issues
- Drafting clear, practical legal documents and correspondence
- Managing matters from initial instruction through to resolution
- Supervising junior lawyers and fee-earners
- Providing technical guidance, coaching and file support
- Contributing to appraisals and team development
- Supporting marketing, networking and new-business activity
- Helping improve systems and consistency across the department
You will be an experienced solicitor or legal professional with strong commercial judgement and the confidence to operate at Senior Associate level.
The firm is particularly interested in candidates with:
- Substantial construction law experience; or
- A commercial litigation background including construction disputes
- Strong technical drafting and client-care skills
- Previous supervisory or mentoring experience
- An interest in developing client relationships and generating work
- A practical, collaborative approach
This role should suit someone who still enjoys the legal work but wants their next move to carry more influence than simply inheriting another caseload.
