Position

We have an opportunity for a person with Senior Quality Manager, Construction background and an interest in civil engineering and major infrastructure projects.

This is a hands-on role focused on checking completed works, identifying defects, and ensuring compliance with project drawings and specifications. The successful candidate will play a critical role in helping the team address current quality concerns and prevent future issues.

Main responsibilities

  • The primary role would be implementation of the Project Quality Management Procedure across the business (including MEP). This would involve training current, new employees and supply chain on the workings of the procedure.
  • Supporting site teams their development of Project Quality Pans and in their review of sub contractor ITP's to ensure both fully encompass the employers requirements consultant and product specifications any statutory requirements etc.
  • Auditing site teams and supply chain to ensure procedure is been followed and records are been maintained and stored in line with the procedure.
  • Generating feedback and implementing continual improvements to the procedure where agreed and required.
  • Inspect completed works to ensure alignment with specifications and technical drawings
  • Identify and report defects/non-conformances and ensure timely remedial actions are taken
  • Support site teams in driving a "right-first-time" culture
  • Maintain accurate quality records, reports, and follow-up documentation
  • Liaise with supervisors, engineers, and managers to improve site quality practices
  • Attend progress and quality review meetings
  • Secondary Role, assistance in maintaining/ updating and disseminating overall company QMS procedure

Profil sought

  • Degree in civil engineering, construction, building science, or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience as a Quality Manager or similar role within a main contracting environment would be preferred
  • Thorough understanding and practical experience of Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001) and their implementation.
  • Knowledge of UK construction regulations, Construction Design Management (CDM), and construction safety management requirements.
  • Experience in large-scale civil engineering projects, including ground engineering.
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings, ITPs, and site specifications
  • Experience working for or with main contractors on civil engineering projects
  • Hold a relevant qualification in construction, engineering, or quality management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a meticulous attention to detail.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and engage at all levels.
