About the Role

Key Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Holds QTS, QTLS, or an equivalent recognised UK teaching qualification.
  • Enhanced DBS: A valid Enhanced DBS clearance registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to apply for one).
  • A strong understanding of the current National Curriculum requirements for Computing at GCSE level.
  • Eligibility to Work: Valid legal entitlement to work full-time in the UK.
Key Skills
  • Proficiency in programming languages commonly taught in schools (e.g., Python, Scratch, or HTML/CSS).
  • Deep knowledge of computer science theory, including networks, data representation, and cyber security.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to debug code and guide students through logical thinking.
  • Excellent digital literacy and the ability to effectively integrate EdTech tools into daily teaching.
  • Strong differentiation skills to break down complex technical jargon into easily digestible concepts.
  • Effective time-management and organisational skills to balance planning, marking, and administrative duties.
Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging, high-quality Computing and ICT lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
  • Assess, record, and report on the development, progress, and attainment of students in line with school policies.
  • Create a stimulating and safe classroom environment that motivates students to learn and explore technology.
  • Differentiate teaching materials to cater to a diverse range of learning needs and abilities, including SEND and high-achievers.
  • Prepare students thoroughly for external examinations, coursework assessments, and practical programming tasks.
  • Manage classroom behaviour effectively by implementing the school's behaviour policy consistently and fairly.
  • Stay up to date with advancements in the Computing curriculum, including new programming languages and digital trends.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, parents' evenings, and whole-school training days.
  • Contribute to extra-curricular clubs, such as coding workshops, gaming clubs, or robotics challenges.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and continuously improve the Computing curriculum.
