We have an opening for a Compliance Officer to join our team. We are looking for someone who has a genuine interest in making a positive impact on the commercial transport sector and growing their regulatory capability. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn and further develop your skills within an existing team of experienced practitioners.

Working collaboratively across NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA), you will:

  • Help reduce risk and ensure compliance through monitoring and reviewing commercial transport operators
  • Meet with transport operators, gather information, write reports and analyse data to inform decisions
  • Take part in end-to-end monitoring and resolution of incidents, complaints and compliance assessments

Based in Christchurch, travel is a key part of this role, and you'll regularly be engaging with operators across the region. You must have a full driver license, with no driving convictions.

Your positive outlook and savvy interpersonal skills will be your greatest asset as you meet with and influence business owners, safety managers, truck drivers and others to improve safety outcomes.

We are seeking to appoint at a salary between $78,810 to $96,323 commensurate to skills and experience.

  • You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.

Qualifications:

The New Zealand Certificate in Regulatory Compliance (Level 3 Core Knowledge) would be an advantage.

The Safer Commercial Transport team is responsible for regulating commercial transport operators: from heavy vehicles to small passenger services. We do this by monitoring our sector through audits, reviews and investigations and working with industry to drive best practice. The team regulates transport operators that have been licensed to operate as a transport service.
