Community Psychiatric Nurse

Cynon CMHT have a vacancy for a forward thinking and compassionate band 6 CPN. This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidates to become part of a strong, well-established MDT with a clear service user focus and close working partnerships with other health professionals and the local authority. The post holder will manage their own case load of patients, the post holder will have excellent communication skills, positive attitude to working with people with complex Mental health needs, whilst working effectively within the MDT.

Cynon CMHT is based at Ysbwty Cwm Cynon. The team is supportive and inclusive and opportunities for training and development are promoted within the role.

This post is fixed term/secondment for 6 months to cover maternity leave. If you are interested in applying for it as a secondment, please obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying.

Main duties of the job

To deliver evidence based holistic care to clients within the context of a multi-disciplinary, multi-agency community mental health service.

To hold a clinical caseload providing comprehensive assessment, care and treatment to clients referred to the Community Mental Health Team in accordance with Part 2 of the Mental Health (Wales) Measure 2010.

Promote a positive working culture, working collaboratively with service users ensuring that their views and ideas are heard and equal.

Foster robust, open and positive working relationships with all partners in particular Local Authority and other mental health services and the 3rd sector, ensuring that all partners are treated with dignity and respect.

Proactively contribute to the continuing improvement and development of community mental health services, within an environment that welcomes new ideas and listens to everyone.

Be guided by broad occupational policies.

Frequently work as a lone worker.

This doesn't mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isn't 'fluency', just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health. Person Specification
  • Welsh language skills at a Level 3 or above
Qualifications
  • Registered Mental Health Nurse
Experience
  • Evidence of post- registration specialist training & continuing professional development activity
  • Previous community experience
Knowledge
  • Sound working knowledge of the legal and policy framework underpinning mental health service provision e.g. Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, National Service Frameworks, mental health Measure.
Achievement
  • Evidence of achievement in clinical practice within the area of speciality e.g. adult mental health, older person's mental health.
