Job Description
Role Overview

Community Payback Supervisors manage small teams of offenders completing unpaid work placements. The role involves supervising work sites, driving service vehicles, and demonstrating good practice to service users. It supports offenders to complete manual tasks such as tree planting, litter picking, and graffiti removal to make the community safer and more welcoming.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise and motivate work groups of offenders during unpaid work placement hours.
  • Organise and oversee manual tasks, ensuring safety, quality and compliance with agreed standards.
  • Transport people and equipment using service vehicles where required.
  • Maintain accurate records of hours worked and progress against objectives.
  • Provide daily briefings, feedback and support to team members.
  • Ensure health and safety procedures are followed, including appropriate rest breaks and wellbeing checks.
  • Cover frequent weekend and occasional evening work as part of the community payback schedule.
  • Represent the Probation Service to local authorities, community groups and other stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Hold a full UK Manual Driving Licence (automatic licences are not accepted).
  • Right to work in the UK and to operate within the Civil Service.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with an ability to work with diverse individuals.
  • Experience in supervising or working with groups of offenders is desirable.
  • Willingness to undertake flexible working, including weekends and evenings.
  • Commitment to maintain health and safety and well being standards at all times.

  • Nationals of the EU, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein, and their settled or pre settled family members
  • Individuals with limited or indefinite leave to remain eligible for the EU Settlement Scheme
  • Turkish nationals, and certain family members with accrued right to work in the Civil Service
Salary and Benefits

Starting salary is £28,064, pro ratable for part time roles. The position offers competitive benefits, including pension contributions under the Local Government Pension Scheme, annual leave, and access to various flexi benefit schemes.
