Job Description

To provide high-quality care and support to individuals within the comfort of their own homes. Your goal is to enable clients to remain independent for as long as possible by assisting with tasks they can no longer manage alone, while respecting their home, their privacy, and their choices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Home-Based Support: Assisting with "rising and retiring" (getting in/out of bed), dressing, and personal hygiene.
  • Meal Preparation: Cooking basic meals and ensuring the client has access to fresh water and snacks throughout the day.
  • Domestic Duties: Light housework, including laundry, washing up, and ensuring the home is free of trip hazards.
  • Medication Prompting: Assisting clients with taking their prescribed medication (monitoring blister packs or MAR charts).
  • Community Access: Accompanying clients to GP appointments, grocery shopping, or social groups to prevent isolation.
  • Lone Working & Reporting: Maintaining detailed logs of every visit and immediately flagging any concerns (e.g., a cold house, a change in mood, or a fall) to the office via the mobile app.
Pay Rates

Base rate is £13.00 per hour and weekends are £14.00 per hour

Mileage is paid at 45p

Working Hours

Full time and part time hours are available

Our morning shifts are: 7am - 2pm and evening shifts are: 4pm - 10pm

All care visits are a minimum of 1 hour and all the clients are solely located in Taunton

Candidate Requirements
  • Driving Licence: In most cases, a full driving license and access to a reliable vehicle is essential for traveling between clients - potential for a couple walkers
  • Male and Females are welcome
  • Experience is preferred but not essential as full training is provided
  • Independence: Must be comfortable working alone and making sensible decisions without immediate physical supervision.
  • Geographic Knowledge: Good knowledge of the Insert Area region to ensure timely arrivals.
Skills & Attributes
  • Time Management: The ability to stick to a schedule while ensuring the client never feels "rushed."
  • Adaptability: Every home is different; you must be able to adapt to various living conditions and family dynamics.
  • Professionalism: Maintaining a clear boundary between being a "friendly companion" and a "professional caregiver."
The Domiciliary Workflow

Working in home care follows a specific cycle that ensures safety and continuity:

  • Travel & Arrival: Checking the mobile app for specific "Entry Instructions" (key safes, etc.).
  • The Visit: Delivering care according to the specific Person-Centered Care Plan.
  • Digital Logging: Recording fluids, food, and mood before leaving the property.
  • Reporting: Contacting the Care Coordinator if a client's health appears to be declining
