Commissioning Engineer - Substations

As a Commissioning Engineer you will be responsible for the testing, verification, commissioning and energisation of substation electrical systems, ensuring all assets are safe, operational and compliant before handover.

Responsibilities

• Develop commissioning plans and procedures.
• Perform pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
• Test protection relays and control schemes.
• Conduct functional and system integration testing.
• Perform SAT and FAT activities.
• Assist with energisation and network integration.
• Produce commissioning reports and test documentation.
• Liaise with utility representatives and design teams.
• Support fault analysis and troubleshooting.
• Ensure compliance with utility and industry standards.

Requirements

• Qualified Electrician or Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Experience commissioning HV substations.
• Protection relay testing experience.
• Familiarity with ABB, Siemens or Schneider protection systems.
• Experience of live network environments desirable.
• Advanced fault-finding ability.
• Strong understanding of protection and control systems.
• Excellent technical reporting skills.
• High attention to detail and safety.
