Commercial Partnerships Manager

The Role

The Building Centre on Store Street has been at the heart of the UK's built environment for the last 75 years, acting as an office hub for key industry leading organisations, an exhibition location where the latest products and ideas can be explored, and an events and education venue for the professionals and business from across the architecture, engineering, planning, developer and construction materials sectors.

Working closely with the Commercial Director you will support business development on behalf of the Building Centre, contributing to the development of its thriving commercial programmes and its services.

You will proactively build and maintain relationships with prospective clients to generate growth opportunities for the business, including prospective new office licensees, product exhibitors, exhibition sponsors and conference partners.

You will also seek to develop and deepen relationships with existing clients and sponsors (including leadership organisations representing significant parts of the UK built environment sector). Tasked with ensuring that their experience of working with and from the Building Centre is positive and growth-focused, you will also draw on your commercial experience and nous to provide practical assistance to colleagues working across our wide range of services, including commercial rental of our exhibition and events space, product galleries and co-working facilities.

The immediate focus of this role will be supporting the delivery of "Water Resilience 2026", a major exhibition and conference running from January to April 2026, managing relations with sponsors and further increasing our depth of engagement with major industry players, emerging sector innovators, policy makers and thought leaders, increasing the likelihood they will work with, commission and practically support events at the Building Centre into the future.

Key responsibilities:

  • Build and manage new relationships and define leads across the range of our commercial activities, including prospective office licensees, product exhibitors, exhibition sponsors and conference partners
  • Manage ongoing relationships with existing commercial partners providing good customer service and client account management
  • Represent the Building Centre at relevant events, generating leads and building personal networks in support of your work
  • Support the Commercial Director in sustaining and growing the commercial income of the Building Centre through the development of new services and partnerships
  • Contribute to the success of colleagues across the Building Centre in relation to their work delivering exhibitions, marketing events and education spaces, and generating new relationships and revenue streams in support of business growth
  • Provide such other support to colleagues as might be needed to ensure the effective delivery of the Building Centre's business.

  • Commercial nous and excellent negotiation skills
  • Resilient and self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Ability to balance and prioritise your workload and meet deadlines
  • Experience of working in one or more parts of the built environment sector in a commercial, sales or client management capacity

  • Sales and CRM tools including Hubspot
  • InDesign and other graphic software
