Commercial Insurance Broker Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Account Handler to join our Insurance Brokers. This is a newly created position offering the opportunity to develop your career toward an Account Executive role within a growing brokerage.

Key Responsibilities New Business & Placement

• Support the placement of new commercial risks with underwriters and broking partners
• Prepare quotation requests and supporting documentation
• Liaise with clients and underwriters to secure terms and arrange placement
• Maintain accurate records and documentation

Renewals & Servicing

• Manage the renewal of commercial policies across a broad range of risks
• Process mid-term adjustments and policy variations
• Handle client queries and claims support
• Ensure timely renewals and compliance with policy documentation

Team & Supervision

• Provide oversight and support to three junior account staff members
• Act as support to the Commercial Manager on key accounts and initiatives
• Assist with training, quality control, and process improvement

Professional Development

• Contribute to the growth and efficiency of the commercial team
• Develop expertise in a broad range of commercial insurance risks
• Progress toward an Account Executive role as experience and opportunity allow

Person Specification Essential Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of broad commercial insurance experience
• Proven experience in renewals, mid-term adjustments, new business, and risk placement
• Sound knowledge of commercial insurance products and markets
• Property insurance experience, or broad commercial combined risks background
• Strong administrative and organisational skills
• Professional client-facing manner and communication skills
• Ability to work as part of a team and support junior staff
• Own transport or practical commuting arrangement to Billericay

Desirable Requirements

• Experience in an independent brokerage environment
• Experience with commercial combined risks
• Aspiration to progress toward an Account Executive or Account Manager role
• Familiarity with broking software and systems
