Job Description
Key Responsibilities Design Office Management 
- Take overall responsibility for the performance, efficiency, and quality output of the design office.
- Continuously review and improve design concepts to enhance product quality, functionality, and cost-effectiveness.
- Develop, implement, and enforce robust design procedures to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with industry standards.
- Line manages all draughtsman, providing leadership, training, mentoring, and performance management.
- Recruitment of new cad technicians. Inc leasing with HR to set up contracts etc.
- Research, recommend, and help implement the latest drawing and design technology, ensuring systems are kept up to date.
- Manage and monitor the drawing office program to ensure deadlines are met.
- Prepare monthly payroll summary for accountants. Collate overtime, obtain approval, and populate the payroll sheet. Obtain overall approval from Kelvin and send to Xeinadin for processing
- HR document filing on SharePoint.
- Recruitment paperwork; offer letters, contracts of employment.
- New starter laptop and software set up. Liaise with Wavenet.
- New Starter onboarding paperwork; checklists, induction presentations.
- HR advice, dealing with queries.
- Pension Schemes
- Populate weekly Scorecards on the Ninety Platform.
- SMT L10 meetings. Take notes and manage the Ninety platform software.
- Prepare Weekly and Monthly Staff Presentations and other presentations ad hoc.
- Feel Good Indicator reporting.
- PeopleHR access for employees to manage holidays.
- Various admin tasks. E.g: Booking training courses, creating templates etc.
- PQQ requests and questionnaires
- Liaise with customers to chase and obtain all necessary design information.
- Attend design meetings with the client.
- Work closely with the Contracts Manager (CM) to create models and drawings, finalising design sign-off.
- Prepare and issue drawings for customer approval.
- Register Variations (VOs) and send Early Warning Notices (EWNs).
- Offer advice on value engineering opportunities to improve design efficiency and reduce costs.
- Prepare complete drawing files for ordering, including NC (Numerical Control) data.
- Print fabrication and installation drawings for workshop and site use.
- Issue drawings and full handover documentation to the workshop and Site Project Manager.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent knowledge of CAD systems and relevant drawing office software.
- Attention to detail and high standards of accuracy.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Good communication skills for liaising with internal teams, customers, and suppliers.
- Problem-solving mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and value engineering.
- Proven experience managing a design/drawing office in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Advanced CAD skills and understanding of manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with NC data preparation and production workflows.
- Knowledge of design approval processes, variation control, and document management.
