Job Description

Are you a proactive, organised, and strategic thinker who thrives in a leadership role? If you enjoy managing workflows, ensuring seamless practice operations, and still having the opportunity to engage in hands-on nursing when needed, then this could be the perfect role for you!

Here at Tilehurst Vets for Pets, we are looking for an experienced veterinary professional who desires to move into a more strategic role, whilst still handling some duties such as nursing or client care.

This position primarily involves leading and managing the workflow and diaries to ensure the smooth running of the clinical side of the practice, and that we are collectively achieving all that is possible as a dynamic, enthusiastic, and united team.

This is a full-time role working up to 40 hours per week, including part of the weekend rota, with no out-of-hours work and great flexibility.

Tasks include:

  1. Maintaining an overview of the clinical team with a strategy for task completion. The team comprises 2.5 vets, 2 RVNs (including students), 3 VCA's, and 3 CCA's.
  2. Supervising, monitoring, and directing to ensure effective workflow, including diary adjustments and break cover, while upholding standards.
  3. Providing line management support to both clinical and non-clinical teams, including delivering appraisals, 1-to-1 meetings, and performance management. Ensuring all inductions and probation reviews are completed on time.
  4. Encouraging ongoing development, suggesting improvements for individuals and the practice to enhance patient and customer care, and identifying business opportunities to grow revenue within budget.

Overall, the ideal candidate will have good experience in the veterinary industry, excellent customer service and communication skills, be an effective team player, and have a systematic approach to decision-making and organization. They will enjoy the variety provided by working with clients and colleagues alike.

Benefits include: An excellent salary between £30,000 and £38,000 depending on experience, plus benefits such as pension, healthcare, paid memberships, career progression opportunities including potential partnership, and lifestyle discounts (up to 20% off at Pets at Home).
