We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Clinical Services Manager to provide strategic leadership across our Ophthalmology theatres, outpatients and pre operative assessment services.
This is a key senior leadership role where you'll be responsible for the quality, safety and operational performance of the full perioperative pathway - from first outpatient contact through to theatre and discharge. Working closely with the Head of Nursing & Clinical Governance, consultants and multidisciplinary teams, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping service delivery, driving continuous improvement and ensuring outstanding patient care.
What you'll be doingAs our Clinical Services Manager, you will:
- Provide visible, compassionate and inclusive leadership across theatres, outpatients and pre assessment services.
- Lead the strategic development of the ophthalmology service, aligning delivery with organisational, local and national priorities.
- Act as the clinical governance lead, ensuring robust systems for quality assurance, risk management, audit and learning.
- Ensure full compliance with CQC, NICE, WHO and professional regulatory standards.
- Manage the day to day operational performance of services, ensuring efficient patient flow, theatre utilisation and waiting list management.
- Oversee workforce planning, recruitment, appraisal, development and wellbeing of multidisciplinary teams.
- Drive service redesign, innovation and quality improvement, using data, audit and benchmarking to improve outcomes.
- Manage delegated budgets, identifying opportunities for cost effective care and service efficiencies.
- Build strong relationships with internal teams and external partners, representing the service at local, regional and national forums.
With a strong background in ophthalmology or perioperative services, you will be a registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC) with senior leadership experience across theatres, outpatients or pre assessment services. You'll have proven expertise in clinical governance, CQC compliance and risk management, a strong track record of leading multidisciplinary teams, and experience delivering service improvement and change. You will bring excellent communication, influencing and decision making skills, alongside financial acumen and experience managing budgets and performance data.
