We are seeking an experienced and motivated Band 6 Clinical Research Nurse to join the Neuro-, Emergency and Trauma (NET) Research Team.
This role offers a fantastic opportunity to lead and support clinical research within a fast-paced acute environment. You will take ownership of research activities, managing a caseload of patients, supporting study delivery, and ensuring high-quality care throughout the research process.
You will also play a key role in mentoring and supporting junior staff, contributing to the development of research practice within the department.
Main duties of the jobYou will be responsible for coordinating and delivering clinical trials, including identifying and recruiting participants, managing care pathways, and ensuring studies are delivered in line with protocols and regulatory requirements.
Your role will involve administering trial treatments, monitoring patient responses, collecting and managing data, and ensuring accurate documentation of study activity. You will also support the informed consent process, ensuring participants fully understand their involvement in research studies.
In addition, you will contribute to improving research processes, support audit activities, and act as a key resource for both clinical and research staff.

Job responsibilitiesAn opportunity to work with the Neuro-, Emergency and Trauma (NET) research team as a Clinical Research Nurse 0.5 WTE for 12 months. This opportunity allows for integration of clinical nurses to join the research team linked to their area, learning and how research delivery works within acute settings, participating in screening and identifying suitable patients to be part of research trials, administering trial medications and interventions, completing questionnaires with participants, data entry, developing organisational and research skills, including sample processing for research tests.
Person Specification Experience- Relevant experience at band 5 within a relevant speciality.
- Experience of supervision of junior staff, SLICE or equivalent experience For specialist areas able to demonstrate specialist knowledge of patient group.
- Knowledge of research and audit.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
- Ability to practice within the scope of the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
- Ability to demonstrate application of the NHS Plan to own sphere of practice.
- Research Experience.
- Emergency ICU Neuro Nursing experience.
- Experience of coordinating and managing clinical trials for investigational medicinal products.
- Proven teaching and assessing skills.
- Ability to apply current research to practice.
- Able to manage difficult situations effectively.
- Able to prioritise and meet deadlines.
- Able to use own initiative.
- Demonstrates an awareness of the wider NHS service developments.
- Excellent level of English language demonstrated through effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrate the ability to compile complex written information.

- Registered Nurse.
- Degree/ Diploma in Nursing.
