Job Description
Clinical Research Fellow in Oral Medicine (0.5FTE)

UCL Eastman Dental Institute (UCL EDI) is the largest postgraduate dental school in Europe and has a reputation as one of the world's leading academic centres for dentistry. As part of UCL - London's Global University - the Institute welcomes around 500 between UK and international students. UCL EDI's main activities are research and education in the field of oral healthcare sciences.

UCL EDI works closely in the furtherance of its mission with the Royal National ENT & Eastman Dental Hospitals (RNENT&EDH), part of University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH), and other local healthcare providers.

ULC EDI, together with the partner NHS Hospital RNENT&EDH, has been awarded NIHR Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) funding for the only BRC Theme in UK fully dedicated to Oral and Dental Medicine research in 2017 and again in 2022, for a total of more than £3.5M.

About the role

The post-holder will participate and contribute to the Research activities of the Oral Medicine Unit including clinical trials running in the partner NHS Hospital and will participate in the ongoing supervision of research students of the Oral Medicine unit.

The post-holder will play an active role in supporting and expanding clinical research within Oral Medicine and strengthening collaborative activities within UCL. The post-holder working closely with Clinical staff of the partner NHS hospital UCLH RNENT&EDH.

This post if offered part time at 0.5 FTE (2.5 days) per week and is available open-ended with funding end date 31 March 2028.

Starting salary offered in the range of £25,310.50 - £31,037.50 (i.e. 50% of £50,621 - £62,075) per annum including London Allowance. Salary on appointment is subject to experience.

A DBS check will be required.

This role does not meet the requirements for a Skilled Worker visa certificate of sponsorship under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. UCL will not be able to sponsor individuals who require a right to work in the UK.

This role is eligible for hybrid working, which will be agreed ad hoc as needed.

About you

The post-holder must have:

  • a strong understanding of Oral Medicine and related clinical research topics
  • clinical experience in managing Oral Medicine conditions
  • experience in recruiting participants in clinical trials

The post holder must be registered with the General Dental Council or be eligible to register.
