OverviewThe Clinical Placement Nurse - Education is a key professional role within the Nursing Directorate, supporting the delivery of high quality clinical education for undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate nursing learners. The post holder will lead the coordination, supervision and evaluation of clinical placements, ensuring an exceptional learning environment aligned with Bon Secours values, professional standards and regulatory requirements.
The role involves collaborating with academic partners, clinical facilitators, CNM teams and the ADON for Education & Quality to support curriculum delivery, competency development and the integration of evidence based practice. The position also contributes to structured graduate and postgraduate development pathways, supporting nurses in specialist, leadership, quality or advanced practice programmes. A strong focus on quality improvement is embedded within the role, championing QI initiatives, supporting audit and evaluation processes, and promoting a culture of continuous learning, reflective practice and professional development across all clinical areas.
As part of the senior nursing operations and education structure, the role contributes to the hospital's succession planning framework, supporting the development of future clinical educators, facilitators and nursing leaders.
Candidate Requirements- A BSc in Nursing is essential along with NMBI registration.
- Minimum 5 years post registration experience in an acute setting.
- Have worked at CNMI level or higher.
- Management qualification and 3 years experience is desirable.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
- Change management, resource management & project management skills.
- Understanding of performance and development review processes and assessment of individuals knowledge and skills.
- Excellent organisational, problem solving & decision making skills.
- A good knowledge of the Irish Health Service particularly in relation to nurse education.
- Excellent interpersonal and team building skills.
- Must possess strong leadership qualities, communication skills and clinical skills.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
- Must be computer literate.
- Flexibility and excellent use of initiative.
