Summary:

As a Clinical Pharmacist in our dynamic team, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safe, effective, and evidence-based use of medicines within Firsway Health Centre. This temporary position offers a challenging yet rewarding opportunity to make a significant impact on patient care.

Responsibilities
  1. Communication / Key Relationships:
    • Communicate sensitive, contentious, and complex medicines-related information to patients, carers, GPs, and other healthcare team members.
    • Utilize various media and formats to convey information effectively.
  2. Analytical and Judgement Skills:
    • Critically appraise, analyze, interpret, and evaluate specialist medicine-related information and evidence.
    • Provide specialized pharmaceutical advice on prescribing, governance, and medicines management.
  3. Responsibility for Patient Care:
    • Clinically review patient notes, interpret prescriptions, and make interventions as necessary.
    • Ensure appropriateness of medicines use through face-to-face or telephone consultations.
    • Ensure compliance with medicines legislation and related regulations.
  4. Policy and Service Development and Research:
    • Assist GPs in developing prescribing patterns that promote safe, high-quality, evidence-based practices.
    • Formulate and support practice-specific prescribing policies and protocols.
    • Identify, plan, and lead clinical audits and research development in specific therapeutic areas.
  5. Training / Sharing Best Practice:
    • Contribute to the training and education of practice staff, including GPs, nurses, and support staff.
    • Identify training needs and facilitate relevant sessions.
  6. Freedom to Act:
    • Work independently within professional boundaries, taking initiative and accountability for actions.
    • Exercise professional judgment in daily recommendations regarding medicines management.
  7. Responsibility for Information Resources:
    • Record and provide activity reports to managers as required.
    • Utilize practice-based clinical systems for data input and retrieval of pharmaceutical information.
Requirements
  • Registered Pharmacist with relevant clinical experience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to critically appraise information.
  • Familiarity with medicines legislation and regulations.
