The Role

Exciting Opportunity for a Prescribing Clinical Pharmacist in NDS - NHS Lanarkshire

Are you an experienced pharmacist with a passion for making a meaningful difference in the lives of children and young people? NHS Lanarkshire is seeking a prescribing clinical pharmacist to join our Neurodevelopmental Service (NDS). This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the ongoing development of a specialised clinical pharmacy service in a forward-thinking and rapidly evolving environment.

About the Role: NHS Lanarkshire Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) & NDS have undergone significant service redesign, including the introduction of advanced clinical pharmacists. This role will support and further develop the pharmacy service by providing safe, effective, and patient-centred pharmaceutical care to children and young people up to the age of 18.

Your work will span across diverse clinical areas, including Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). You will lead pharmacist prescribing clinics, monitor patient treatments, and work closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of high-quality care. There is one full-time post (37 hours) available. There may also be an expectation to provide prescribing support to CAMHS across Lanarkshire, depending on service needs. A driving licence and willingness to travel are essential. There is currently no requirement to participate in on-call or weekend working for this role, however this may be subject to change as the service develops.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provision of Outpatient Clinics: Prescribing, monitoring, and review of medications for young people with a range of mental health and neurodevelopmental conditions.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Working closely with the existing advanced clinical pharmacist team and the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver integrated, patient-centred care.
  • Clinical Leadership & Development: Support the ongoing development of the pharmacy service, contributing to clinical governance, quality improvement, audit, research, and service evaluation.
  • Education and Training: Provide experiential learning opportunities for pharmacy students, as well as training for pharmacy and multidisciplinary staff to support the future of clinical pharmacy in CAMHS & NDS.
