Responsibilities
  • Coordinating and supervising daily activities within the Robotic Theatre to ensure efficient patient care and theatre operations.
  • Assisting in the management and organisation of robotic surgical procedures and theatre schedules.
  • Supporting the theatre team in delivering safe, high quality perioperative care to patients undergoing robotic surgery.
  • Ensuring all robotic equipment and instruments are prepared, maintained, and used according to clinical and safety standards.
  • Providing clinical leadership and guidance to nursing and support staff within the theatre environment.
  • Monitoring infection prevention and control practices in line with hospital policies and best practice guidelines.
  • Assisting with staff supervision, training, orientation, and competency development related to robotic surgery procedures.
  • Collaborating with surgeons, anaesthetists, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure smooth theatre operations.
  • Supporting stock control, equipment management, and resource utilisation within the department.
  • Ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with hospital policies, patient safety standards, and professional regulations.
  • Participating in quality improvement initiatives, audits, and continuous professional development activities.
  • Acting as a role model in maintaining professional standards, communication, and patient centred care.
Requirements
  • Must be registered on the General Division of the Register of Nurses maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
  • Minimum of 3-5 years' post registration experience in an acute healthcare setting is essential.
  • A Degree or Higher Diploma in Theatre Nursing is desirable.
  • Completion of a management training programme is desirable.
  • Previous management experience of at least one year is desirable.
  • Experience in Robotic Theatre nursing is desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work independently.
  • Good IT proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent organisational, planning, and leadership abilities.
  • Enthusiastic, self motivated, and proactive approach to work.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development.
  • Proven clinical competence and professional capability.
  • Ability to interact effectively with staff at all levels, consultants, patients, and the public.
  • Proficiency in the English language is essential for this role.
