Do you have a passion for teaching and inspiring others? Are you a role model who wants to demonstrate evidence based practice? Are you keen to assist with the management and improvement of clinical nursing staff?

In this role you will educate staff and students in the clinical setting while working clinically with nursing teams in highly specialised areas. You will collaborate with the Ward Manager to enhance the improvement of nursing staff, and your educational skills will be developed by the Oncology and Haematology Directorate Education Team.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who can teach in a variety of ways, research topics critically, and demonstrate patience and consideration.

Main duties of the job
  • Act as an exemplary role model for best clinical practice and Trust values
  • Work alongside learners to facilitate their independent learning
  • Work to an agreed job plan to maximise education delivery to support staff and patient safety/experience
  • Manage your own time to balance clinical education and administration
  • Actively promote and contribute to an inter professional learning environment
  • Deliver education programmes at a divisional level and, where required, cross divisionally
  • Work as part of the local and corporate practice development teams
  • Assist in anticipating and addressing the educational needs of the service
  • Work across boundaries to proactively develop and sustain partnerships
  • Participate in audit, service improvement and research projects relevant to the clinical educator role

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

As a clinical educator, you will provide clinically based practice development and education to the non medical workforce, role model best, evidence based practice and support the learning needs of your clinical area.

Specific education interventions will be co developed with the senior practice development and education team, and you will assist in coordinating the delivery and evaluation of training.

Person specification Education and Qualifications
  • UK health related recognised degree, relevant to the post
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development through maintenance of NMC revalidation
  • Evidence of experience and qualifications in supervising and assessing colleagues and learners
Experience and Knowledge
  • Appropriate period of post registration acute nursing experience
  • Evidence of specialist knowledge appropriate to the clinical area
