Job description: As an HGV Class 2 Dustcart Driver (Refuse Driver), you will be responsible for operating a dustcart vehicle on planned residential and commercial waste collection routes across Bedford and surrounding areas. This is a hands-on driving role where you will lead a team of loaders while ensuring collections are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

Responsibilities
  • Driving a Class 2 dustcart (refuse vehicle) on assigned routes
  • Supervising and working alongside a team of loaders
  • Completing daily vehicle checks and defect reporting
  • Ensuring compliance with health & safety and waste regulations
  • Assisting with bin collections when required
  • Completing all route paperwork and documentation
  • Providing a reliable and professional waste collection service
Pay & Benefits
  • £17.00 per hour (accrue holiday)
  • £19.05 inclusive holiday pay
  • Weekly pay
  • Full-time, ongoing work
  • Monday to Friday shifts
  • Opportunity for temp-to-perm positions

Shift Pattern
  • Monday to Friday
  • Early starts (typically 05:00 - 06:00)
  • Day shifts (8-10 hours average)

Requirements
  • Valid HGV Class 2 Licence (Category C)
  • CPC (Driver Certificate of Professional Competence)
  • Digital Tachograph Card
  • Previous dustcart / refuse experience preferred
  • Minimum 6 months Class 2 driving experience
  • Good understanding of UK road and safety regulations
  • Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented attitude
