Job Description
Description
Every child deserves someone in their corner. Could that be you?
Imagine this: you start your shift in a cosy home where one young person lives. You greet them with a smile, ask about their day, and spend time together making dinner, working through homework, or maybe just chatting over a cup of tea. Later, you help them get ready for a new adventure - perhaps a trip to the park, trying a new hobby, or visiting somewhere they've always wanted to go.
By the end of your shift, you've not just ticked tasks off a list - you've built trust, created memories, and helped a child feel safe, supported, and valued.
That's what life is like as a Children's Residential Support Worker with Esland.
The role:
You'll work 2 days on, 4 days off (including sleep nights), giving you plenty of time to recharge. We're a year-round service, but your rota will be planned in advance, so you'll know exactly when you're working.
Pay: £31,917 - £32,540 a year (depending on qualifications), with extra pay for overtime.
We work with children and young people who need therapeutic placements in a solo service - a smaller, more personal setting where they can really feel at home. You'll support them with everyday life skills, education, social confidence, and fun experiences that help them believe in themselves.
Estimated salary based on a pay rate of £12.60 to £12.90 per hour for days (depending on qualifications held) and working 8 sleep-nights per month on average (at £60 per sleep night). These rates are effective from 1st April 2025.
Why join Esland?
We know this work changes lives - not just for the children, but for our team too. That's why we make sure you feel valued and supported:
Clear career progression and the chance to gain qualifications while you work
Paid, BILD-accredited induction training
A staff app with high street discounts, online medical support, financial advice, and counselling
Your birthday off every year (in addition to your holiday allowance)
Free stays at our company holiday home in the Peak District
And much more
If you have a kind heart, a steady hand, and the patience to help a child believe in their future, we'd love to hear from you.
Successful employment is subject to satisfactory Full Enhanced Disclosure, right to work and reference checks in line with government regulations and Safer Recruitment Practices (the company will cover the costs).
All young people are equally entitled to have their needs met in a fair and balanced way. Esland employees are responsible for promoting equal opportunities for all and for challenging any behaviour or practice which discriminates against any young person or colleague on the grounds of race, religion, disability, age, gender, sexual orientation, or any other perceived difference.
