Childcare Practitioner

Job Details

Temporary for up to 1 year.

Working Pattern

22.5 hrs per week, Monday to Friday between 07:45 to 09:00, 14:45 to 18:00 and various shifts on school holidays.

Location

Capshard Primary School, Barry Road, Kirkcaldy, KY2 6JD.

Responsibilities

• Plan, facilitate and supervise a wide range of play-based activities and social experiences both in and outdoors, ensuring the play space is safe, stimulating and welcoming.
• Empower children to lead their own play, guiding them as needed to boost creativity and independence.
• Support children to prepare healthy snacks in line with dietary and nutritional guidelines.
• Encourage children to build confidence, self esteem and lifelong skills through play and exploration.
• Deal with accidents and incidents calmly and professionally, ensuring children's health and wellbeing needs are met.

Qualifications and Experience

• Experience working with children and young people of all ages.
• Relevant childcare qualification, or willingness to work towards one as required by the Scottish Social Services Council.
• Reliable, good communication skills and able to work as part of a team.

Eligibility

Must obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.

Must be able to apply for and maintain Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) registration within the required timeframes.
