Chief Operating Officer (CIO)- Chemnitz, Germany- Permanent opportunity
I am currently supporting a global leading Supply Chain Management software company on their search for a Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join their team in Chemnitz on a permanent basis.
The role:
The COO will be responsible for the operational management of the company, focusing on execution, scalability, performance, and delivery quality. They will work closely with the CEO and the leadership team to translate the company's strategy into concrete actions and measurable results.
The COO will report to both the local CEO and the corporate CEO and promote the growth and efficiency of the local office in close collaboration with all other managers.
Main responsibilities:
- Operational oversight: The COO is responsible for the efficient and effective functioning of the Delivery, Finance, and HR departments. They ensure seamless integration and alignment with the company's strategic objectives. The primary focus is on the appropriate allocation of delivery resources to ensure project quality, on-time delivery, profitability, capacity utilization, and structured competency development.
- Operational efficiency: The COO strives to optimize processes, reduce costs, and improve overall operational efficiency to increase company performance.
- Finance: The COO manages budgets, monitors financial performance, and prepares financial reports in accordance with group policies and deadlines.
- Performance management: The COO monitors and analyzes operational metrics to track progress, identify areas for improvement, and ensure the branch achieves its objectives.
- Change Management: The COO plays a key role in leading and implementing change initiatives within the organization by addressing resistance and ensuring a smooth transition.
- Strategic Execution: The COO translates the company's strategic vision into actionable plans and oversees their implementation throughout the organization.
- Team Leadership: The COO leads and motivates teams, fostering a culture of collaboration and high performance.
- Strategic Planning: The COO contributes to the development of long-term strategic plans and ensures that operational plans are aligned with these goals. They also help identify and mitigate potential risks related to operations.
Experience required:
- University degree in business, engineering, or related fields.
- At least 10 years of experience in operational or managerial roles in B2B software companies, ideally with a focus on industry and/or supply chain.
- Proven success in effective leadership.
- In-depth knowledge of production processes, supply chain management, and related digital technologies (MES, ERP, WMS, APS, IoT, AI, etc.).
- Knowledge of project-based cost control.
- Experience in leading cross-functional teams and scaling operations in growth environments.
- In-depth knowledge of project-based profitability metrics.
- Analytical skills, results-oriented thinking, and strategic vision.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills in both German and English.
