Emmaus Mossley is an independent charity supporting people who have experienced homelessness by providing long term accommodation, purposeful work and tailored support. The community home at Longlands Mill hosts 26 companions and a thriving social enterprise that funds the charity and contributes to the national Emmaus movement.
About the roleThe Chief Executive Officer will lead Emmaus Mossley strategically, operationally and culturally, ensuring we remain a safe, sustainable and values led community where companions can thrive. You will work closely with staff, volunteers, companions and trustees to deliver our mission and strengthen the organisation for the future.
Key responsibilities- Providing visible, hands on leadership across the community and social enterprise.
- Strengthening companion support, well being, training and move on pathways.
- Developing and delivering strategy informed by insight and future challenges.
- Ensuring financial sustainability, sound budgeting and strong risk management.
- Leading major site developments and long term maintenance of the mill.
- Overseeing our successful retail operation and exploring new enterprise opportunities.
- Maintaining compliance across safeguarding, health and safety and supported housing requirements.
- Building strong partnerships with local organisations, local authorities, housing providers, employers and Emmaus UK.
We are particularly interested in candidates who can offer:
- Senior leadership experience in a charity, social enterprise or similarly complex environment.
- A visible, hands on approach suited to a close knit, community based setting.
- Strong operational and organisational skills, including facilities and risk management.
- Financial literacy and experience overseeing budgets and compliance.
- A values led approach to managing and empowering staff and volunteers.
- Experience supporting vulnerable people or a commitment to learning trauma informed practice.
- Ability to navigate regulatory changes, including Supported Housing developments.
- Strong partnership building skills and the confidence to represent the organisation externally.
- Lived or professional experience of homelessness, social exclusion or complex needs is also valued.
