Job Description

The Chief Engineer plays a pivotal role and oversees all areas of the business to ensure smooth operation and maintenance of all the Club's physical infrastructure, facilities and systems - from electrical and HVAC, to plumbing and structural integrity, you are responsible for ensuring everything runs efficiently and effectively to provide the best possible experience for our members, guests and team.

You oversee all aspects of engineering and facilities management to uphold the highest standards of safety, functionality, and aesthetics across Taymouth Castle Estate, Glenlyon Estate, Moness Resort and Kenmore Village. This role covers all areas and includes all amenities and assets, guest homes as they are constructed, staff housing and various buildings throughout the estates.

Plan, schedule, and evaluate preventative and cyclical maintenance regimes. Provide leadership, guidance and mentorship to the engineering and facilities team. Collaborate with building contractors in the handover, warranty, and maintenance of property facilities.

Complete construction oversight pertaining to site walks, construction documents, safety processes; capability to read and understand schematics and engineering drawings. Rectified major defects and emergency conditions as quickly as possible.

Coordinate and work closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to achieve project goals within established timelines and budgets, by continuously reviewing operating costs seeking improvement. Ensure regular on going communication occurs with team members, by creating awareness of department objectives, communicate expectations and recognise performance.

Manage the property's facilities, to include new and historic buildings, their operation, maintenance and repair, including commercial HVAC systems, refrigeration equipment, kitchen equipment and appliances, plumbing systems, lighting and electrical systems, life safety systems, and wastewater management systems. Technical competence with building management systems (BSM) and low voltage automation is also preferred.

Oversee and coordinate preventive maintenance and repair programs for all club facilities and amenities including but not limited to buildings, grounds, utilities, and equipment, ensure uninterrupted operations and member satisfaction.

Manage capital improvement projects from conception to completion, including renovations, upgrades, and expansions.

Responsible for finish carpentry and furniture maintenance and repair and plant and vehicle maintenance.

Manage small renovation or building construction projects associated with facility operations. Collaborate with general contractors and equipment providers; establish a library of operating manuals and procedures, a calendar of warranty durations, and other maintenance requirements along with servicing schedules.

Inspect and evaluate the physical condition of the Club to determine the type of work required. Write and manage building checklists to ensure the building assets are managed and serviced according to schedule.

Assist with managing Fire Precautions, site compliance and readiness, audits, and PPM's and completion of annual Risk Assessments and DSEAR. Establish and maintain a maintenance and warranty inspection schedule for all facilities and ensure performance. Manage warranty investigations, use and promote continuous improvement approach to reliability.

Establish and manage the working inventory of building operation consumables, such as replacement lighting, heating systems, pumps, shut off valves, and other operational maintenance items.

Prepare and manage the engineering and facilities department budget, ensuring optimal allocation of resources to meet operational needs while maintaining cost efficiency. Negotiate contracts, oversee performance, and ensure quality service delivery through KPI audits and reviews. Works closely with procurement & finance leadership for annual budgets and AMC renewals.

Develop and implement sustainability initiatives to minimise the club's environmental footprint, such as energy conservation, waste reduction, and green building practices.

Liaise with community safety & security leadership to develop, maintain, and support emergency response plans and procedures.

Support emergency drills and training sessions to ensure readiness in crisis situations with the community safety & security leadership. Work with community safety & security leadership to implement measures to promote a safe and secure environment for guests and staff.

Ensure all work is completed and compliant with the high standards associated with our club and facilities. We do the right thing, ensure when you assist third party contractors that this is upheld.

Develop and implement strategic plans for the effective management of community facilities and amenities, aligning with organisational goals and objectives. Discover you

Highly experienced Managing/Director of Engineering and Maintenance or related professional area, with preferred technical training Electrical/Avionic/Plumbing preferred. Knowledge and comprehensive background in all aspects of facilities operations and maintenance.

Experience managing projects, construction, multiple large scale commercial buildings, and assets. Previous experience within the Hospitality industry, preferably large resort setting. Good understanding of H&S at work, COSHH, WAHR, LOLER and PUWER. Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of products.
