The role

As Chief Engineer in Electronic Warfare and Tactical Communications, you'll ensure our solutions, designs, and bids are technically sound, safe, and compliant. You'll provide leadership and oversight to deliver excellence across the business.

You'll work on delivering innovative Electronic Warfare systems, supporting critical technology refreshes, and driving cutting-edge advancements. Your work will be vital in maintaining our technological leadership.

Day-to-day, you'll provide technical leadership and oversight to the Land CEMA and Tactical Communications engineering teams, ensuring solutions meet customer requirements. Acting as the Independent Technical Authority, you'll oversee technical governance, design reviews, and deliverable assessments. You will also:

  • Represent Babcock in external meetings, supporting bids and business development.
  • Manage and mitigate technical risks and issues.

This role is full-time (37 hours/week) with hybrid working (2 days in-office, 3 days remote).

Essential experience

  • Proven experience as a technical leader in Electronic Warfare and Tactical Communications, from requirements to delivery.
  • Deep knowledge of Communications and Electronic Warfare systems.
  • Experience overseeing technical work, approving designs, and managing new developments.

Qualifications

  • Formal engineering qualification (e.g., HND, Bachelor's, Master's); chartership is highly desirable.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be a UK Sole National and able to obtain and maintain SC security clearance.
