The Role

We are recruiting a Chief Engineer of Base Maintenance, reporting to the Aircraft Maintenance Manager (AMM). The role involves managing the Maintenance function of the Approved Maintenance Organisation (AMO) in compliance with all Aviation Regulatory Requirements and Standards.

Key Responsibilities

Aviation Regulatory Responsibility & Ownership

  • Ensure maintenance activities comply with all applicable Aviation Regulations.
  • Perform maintenance within the scope of regulatory approvals and certificates.
  • Represent maintenance management and oversee activities as per regulations.
  • Ensure maintenance facilities meet regulatory standards.
  • Maintain an active maintenance man-hour plan with sufficient qualified staff.
  • Use and calibrate tools and equipment according to standards.
  • Use current approved maintenance data for all tasks.
  • Plan and ensure availability of personnel, tools, and facilities for maintenance work.
  • Issue Certificates of Release to Service after verifying proper maintenance.
  • Accurately record all maintenance details in aircraft documentation.
  • Support technical investigations and safety reports.
  • Manage audits, non-conformances, and safety initiatives.

The preferred candidate holds a B1.1 or B2 UK Part 66 licence but it is not essential.

Required skills and experience include:

  • Proven aircraft maintenance management experience.
  • UK CAA Part 66 B1 or B2 license or military equivalent.
  • Knowledge of UK/European/EASA regulations and ISO standards in an AMO environment.
  • Understanding of Safety Management Systems.
  • Ability to obtain SC and DV security clearances if required.
