Job Description

We are seeking an experienced, motivated and compassionate Chief Audiologist to lead and deliver exceptional audiological care within our service.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about providing standard and specialist assessment and rehabilitation for adults within the Audiology service.

We are looking for someone who will:

  • Provide quality care to Audiology patients
  • Oversee a specific area of the service
  • Take responsibility for a highly specialised clinic caseload
  • Lead and provide line management for clinical team members.
  • Develop the Audiology Service
Main duties of the job
  • Undertake full range of available audiological tests unsupervised, including audiometry, tympanometry, probe microphone measurements, speech audiometry and advanced diagnostic testing such as vHIT, in accordance with national professional standards and local protocol
  • Work independently to provide highly specialised clinical services, including assessing adults referred for audiological issues, creating individual rehabilitation plans, and managing highly complex cases for adults with complex audiological issues, adults with learning disabilities, tinnitus or those needing aural microsuction.
  • Refer for advanced tests such as MRI where appropriate and process results as perTrust guidelines.
  • Providing comprehensive auditory rehabilitation including audiological counselling, advice on assistive listening devices, loop systems, and other equipment.
  • Fit and verify digital hearing aids, taking ear impressions, modifying earmoulds, ensuring proper adjustment and patient satisfaction, and manage ongoing hearing aid maintenance and review.
  • Develop and deliver rehabilitation programs for specialized services such as for tinnitus, private dispensing or those with additional needs.
  • Maintain specialist expertise in routine and non-routine testing, rehabilitation methods, and new technologies.

Person Specification Qualifications
  • MSc in Audiology/Healthcare Science or equivalent experience
  • Registered with Academy for Healthcare Science or Health Care Professions Council
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • Advanced courses adult audiology specialisations
  • Membership of BAA and/ or BSA
Experience
  • Significant post-graduate clinical experience in audiology
  • Use of Auditbase patient management system
Knowledge
  • Advanced knowledge of audiological techniques
  • Able to communicate effectively to ensure high standards of care, treatment, service or support as appropriate to your role

  • Detailed knowledge of hearing aid selection, fitting, and verification in adults
