Job Description

We are looking for a highly motivated,passionate Chief AHP to join our team and help shape the future of AHP serviceswithin our Trust and the local health economy aligned to the NHS 10-year plan.The Chief of AHPs will be accountable to the Chief Operating Officer withprofessional accountability to the Chief Nurse. This post will be responsiblefor providing an advanced level of strategic thinking to the therapy service,being able to convert concepts into plans and communicate these effectively to awider audience. As Chief AHP, the post holder will also provide expertprofessional leadership and governance for the Trusts Allied HealthProfessions. The post holder is expectedto cross cover and work at all sites provided by the Trust where TherapyServices are provided. They will promote a culture of learning and openness andensure clinical staff have the knowledge, capability, systems and support toembed lessons learned in practice and drive improvements for our patients.

Main duties of the job

Thepost holder will ultimately be accountable for all Allied Health ProfessionalTherapists (AHPs) and therapy support staff within the Trust. They willdirectly manage the Head of Therapies and General manager for therapyservices which include services within Dietetics and Speech and LanguageTherapy, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Podiatry. The postholder will be accountable for theadult clinical health psychologists who will professionally report to theChief Medical Officer. The post-holder is responsible for the strategic andprofessional direction of Therapy Services. This involves delivery of alloperational performance standards, ensuring all services are provided withinthe agreed level of activity, standards of performance, safety, quality andbudget. The post holder will be responsible for developing and implementingstandards across Therapy Services within the Trust which support professionalleadership, competence, capacity and standards of conduct. The post holderwill be responsible for leading on and delivering success across several keyprogrammes and pathways across the Trusts Clinical Service Units. Theseprogrammes will be essential in ensuring that LTHT can deliver its primaryobjectives and targets over the years and will encompass a range of topicsincluding productivity and efficiency, transformation, clinicaleffectiveness, quality and workforce succession planning.

Supportthe clinical and managerial leadership of the hospital, delivering a range ofoutcomes, ensuring that fundamental and underlying activities to organisationalsuccess are achieved. To lead with other members of the triumvirate and otherCSUs and corporate management teams to ensure the effective and efficientdelivery of services to clinical users and patients.

Workingwith senior management, to define and implement new ways of working tomaximise the benefits of the new structure and play a leading role in theTrust transformation process to deliver Trust gains in cost and clinicaleffectiveness and efficiency.

Person Specification Skills & Behaviours
  • Proven leadership skills, development of team. Ability to draft clear and concise business cases and papers
Qualifications
  • Masters degree in healthcare or management or demonstrable ability to work at Masters Level. HCPC Registration
  • Professional Qualifications in one of the AHP disciplines. Evidence of maintaining continuous professional development

Experience
  • Significant management experience in a senior role within the acute sector in particular operational management
  • Significant experience and success at a clinical manager level including strategy development, budgetary control and leadership
