Cherubim Music Trust is holding a competition for a single movement work for string orchestra of 5-7 minutes, to be rehearsed and performed as part of Cherubim Strings Project 2025 on 1+2 November by Cherubim Chamber Strings (music college proficiency), conducted by Arturo Serna in Tisbury, Wiltshire. It is open to any composer resident or studying in the UK. There is an entry fee of £15. A prize of £500 will be awarded to the winner, including travel expenses to attend the premiere. The successful composer will be required to produce professional-quality orchestral parts.
Entries will be judged by the director and deputy director of Cherubim Music Trust, with the primary criteria being beauty, originality, and practicality. Please submit a PDF score and an MP3 demo if available. All entries will be acknowledged, and a winner declared by mid-September. Submissions will not be returned, and the judges' decision is final.
