About the Role

Biotage is looking for a talented Chemical Process Engineer to join our manufacturing site near Cardiff. This is a hands on, highly impactful role within our Engineering team, where you'll play a key part in ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient production of chemistry products, including sorbents and resins, while supporting utilities and effluent systems.

You will have the opportunity to work across multiple projects, from process scale up and optimisation to equipment commissioning and capital projects - helping drive operational excellence and continuous improvement at our site. What You'll Do
  • Provide technical support and oversight for chemistry production processes
  • Troubleshoot production, utility, and effluent systems to ensure safe and efficient operation
  • Lead or support investigations into process, quality, or equipment issues and implement solutions
  • Contribute to process safety management, including HAZOPs, risk assessments, and process calculations
  • Participate in equipment and process modifications through Management of Change (MoC) procedures
  • Design, optimise, scale up, and implement new or existing processes and products, including equipment selection and operator training
  • Support commissioning and qualification activities (IQ/OQ/PQ) for new equipment or processes
  • Manage or support CapEx projects, including planning, budgeting, and contractor coordination
  • Maintain process documentation, P&IDs, drawings, and specifications
  • Identify and implement process improvements and new technologies
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Relevant experience in process or production engineering within chemical manufacturing
  • Understanding of chemical process systems (reactors, mixing, filtration, batch distillation)
  • Experience with engineering drawings, P&IDs, and process safety techniques (HAZOP, FMEA, ATEX, DSEAR)
  • Hands on, practical, problem solving mindset with strong ownership
