- Support the Head Chef in the day to day running of the kitchen.
- Maintain proper food storage procedures and stock rotation according to established procedures.
- Plan, prepare and cook meals to a consistently high standard, taking account of any special requests or dietary requirements within the unit.
- Serve service users, staff and visitors with food and beverage in a professional and courteous manner.
- Prepare and produce food for conferences and banquets.
- Participate in food costings through effective cost control procedures.
- Adhere to the 'Safer Food Better Business' standards and record keeping.
- Strictly comply with Food Hygiene Regulations and other safety procedures at all times.
- Take full shift responsibility for the catering operation.
- Assist the Head Chef by researching and creating new menus to ensure meals are of a high quality and complement healthy eating guidelines.
- Accurately complete all paperwork related to the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) system, such as fridge temperatures, food temperature logs and cleaning schedules.
- Be 18 years or older.
- Have GCSE or equivalent in English.
- Hold City & Guilds 706/1 and 2 (or equivalent) Basic Food Preparation & Cooking certification.
- Have Basic Food Hygiene certification (essential) and Intermediate Food Hygiene certification (desirable).
- Previous experience in a similar environment.
- Experience delivering a service on a mass scale.
- Experience in menu planning, costing, ordering, stock control and budgeting.
The Farndon Unit, Farndon Rd, Newark NG24 4SW. The unit offers low secure, rehabilitation and acute inpatient settings for women with mental health and personality disorder diagnoses, including on site facilities such as en suite bedrooms, a patient café, gym, salon and activity hall.
