Location: Shell Bacton, Paston Road, Bacton, Norfolk, NR12 0JE

Salary: £32,500 per annum
Hours: 40 hours per week
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Chef Manager to lead the catering operation at our Shell site in Bacton, Norfolk.

This is a practical management role where you will lead by example, working alongside your catering team in the kitchen. You will be expected to cook, serve customers, maintain high food quality standards and oversee the day-to-day running of the catering operation while ensuring excellent customer service and financial performance.

What you'll do:

As Chef Manager, you will:

  • Manage the catering operation on behalf of Sodexo for our Shell client.
  • Lead, motivate and develop the catering team through training, coaching and performance management.
  • Prepare, cook and serve high-quality meals to company standards.
  • Organise and oversee all food production and service, ensuring meals are delivered on time and to a consistently high standard.
  • Plan menus, complete recipe cards and menu purchase planners.
  • Manage stock control, ordering, deliveries and supplier invoices.
  • Ensure exceptional customer service and maintain strong relationships with the client and site users.
  • Organise catering for special events and functions when required.
  • Recruit, induct and train new team members.
  • Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness throughout the kitchen.
  • Complete Risk Assessments, COSHH Assessments and all required compliance documentation.
  • Ensure equipment, uniforms, PPE and kitchen facilities are maintained in a safe and serviceable condition.
  • Monitor service performance against Shell KPIs and implement improvements where required.
  • Undertake any other duties appropriate to the role.
What you'll bring: Essential
  • Food Safety Certificate.
  • Previous experience managing a catering or hospitality operation.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Hands-on cooking experience within a commercial kitchen.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritise a busy workload.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Experience managing budgets and achieving financial targets.
  • Good IT skills with experience using management or reporting systems.
  • Flexible and proactive approach to work.
Desirable
  • NVQ in Professional Cookery or equivalent catering qualification.
