Job Description

Avery Healthcare is seeking a Chef de Partie for a temporary position at its Wandsworth Common location. The role offers a salary of £16.80 per hour.

Main duties of the job

As a Chef de Partie at Avery Healthcare, you will assist the Head Chef and Sous Chef in leading a culinary team that provides a nutritionally balanced and high-quality service. Your responsibilities will include discussing and agreeing on catering functions, preparing nutritional food and beverages, supporting effective stock control systems, and contributing to menu development. The position requires a catering qualification such as City & Guilds 706/1 & 706/2, a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate, and at least one year of catering experience.

Shift Details: Early / late 07:00 - 15:00 / 11:30 - 20:00

Your focus as Chef de Partie will be to support the Head Chef and Sous Chef to lead a culinary team that provides a nutritionally balanced, comprehensive and high-quality culinary service, which contributes to the overall wellbeing of the residents.

Other responsibilities will include:

  • Taking part in meetings with residents and Heads of Departments to discuss and agree catering functions across the home, and to address special needs or dietary requirements of residents.
  • Preparing nutritional food and beverages to a high standard, as directed by the Head Chef.
  • Supporting cost effective stock control systems to minimise waste and ensure these are in place.
  • Working with the Head Chef and Sous Chef to develop and review the menu on a regular basis.

  • Hold a catering qualification such as City & Guilds 706/1 & 706/2 or NVQ or equivalent.
  • Hold a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
  • Have a minimum of 1 year catering experience.
  • Demonstrate compassion and commitment to the delivery of high quality culinary services to residents.
  • Be adaptive and flexible to cover a range of responsibilities at short notice.
Practical requirements

Please note this role will require:

  • A DBS Disclosure check, the cost of which will be met by Avery Healthcare.
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the UK.
Qualifications
  • Candidates must hold a catering qualification such as City & Guilds 706/1 & 706/2 or NVQ or equivalent, along with a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate. A minimum of one year relevant catering experience is required.
