Job Overview

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Chef de Partie to join our team at The Dabbling Duck award-winning pub restaurant. This role offers an exciting opportunity to develop your culinary expertise within a professional kitchen environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing high-quality dishes from fresh ingredients, maintaining food safety standards, and supporting the overall kitchen operations. Previous kitchen experience and a genuine enthusiasm for food preparation are essential for this position. We're also interested to meet less experienced, younger candidates for a trainee kitchen assistant position.

Duties
  • Assist in the preparation and cooking of a variety of dishes according to recipes and standards
  • Ensure all food is prepared in accordance with health and safety regulations
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations and kitchen equipment
  • Deputise in the absence of senior team members, to ensure smooth operations
  • Follow food safety protocols at all times, including proper storage and handling of ingredients
  • Contribute to menu development by suggesting new ideas and improvements
  • Assist with meal presentation to ensure dishes are served attractively
  • Collaborate with the kitchen team to meet quality standards and customer expectations
Requirements
  • Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or a similar role within a restaurant or hospitality setting
  • Strong knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
  • Experience in meal preparation and food prep techniques
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure during peak hours
  • Good organisational skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
  • Previous restaurant experience or serving background is advantageous but not essential
  • A genuine passion for culinary arts and continuous learning in the kitchen

The salary agreed will be enhanced by the addition of a share of gratuities, and the working pattern is a compressed hours spread over a 4 day week with 3 days off.
